HYDRAULIC FLUID ON THE REAR OF PREVOST BUS
hydraulic1.jpg

Hydraulics are strong and usually quiet. Some of the drawbacks are:
  1. When there is a failure with the system, it may be very difficult to diagnose the exact location of the problem. Also, finding hydraulic components in a small town is shaky at best.
  2. You must find a spot to mount the hydraulic reservoir and pump. This is usually in one of the rear storage compartments of the coach, which reduces storage capacity.
  3. When removing the lift, the connections to the hydraulic lines must be disconnected. This could lead to a hydraulic fluid leak.
  4. In time, most hydraulic lines develop a leak, usually at the connection. This causes hydraulic fluid to cover whatever is in the path as shown in the above photo.

The use of a proven & reliable electric cable system elliminates the hydraulic problems. The winches are readily available in case of a rare failure. If the system does not operate, diagnosis is quick and easy.
